Banana Pancakes

You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song it’s meant to keep you
From doing what you’re supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
I’ll make you banana pancakes

Pretend like it’s the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining
There ain’t no need to go outside

But just maybe, hala ka ukulele
Mama made a baby
I really don’t mind the practice
Because you’re my little lady
Lady, lady love me
Because I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains

Pretend like there’s no world outside
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining
There ain’t no need to go outside

Ain’t no need, ain’t no need
Can’t you see, can’t you see
Rain all day and I don’t mind

Telephone singing, ringing, it’s too early
Don’t pick it up
We don’t need to
We got everything we need right here
And everything we need is enough
It’s just so easy
When the whole world fits inside of your arms
Do we really need to pay attention to the alarm
Wake up slow, wake up slow

But baby, you hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song it’s meant to keep you
From doing what you’re supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
I’ll make you banana pancakes

Pretend like it’s the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining
There ain’t no need to go outside

Ain’t no need, ain’t no need
Rain all day and I really really really don’t mind
Can’t you see, can’t you see
We’ve got to wake up slow

Art, Love and God

Another one of those meaningless coffee conversation brought me to the issue. A new train of thought that can be philosophically theorised in the next few years -- I think it's worth publicising. Art, Love and God is a journey of finding truth for an individual in his worldly existence.

Art is a personal impression, emotions and experience that exists in a relationship between a living person and an object. The nature of this relationship is subjective according to the artist. The truth of the art can be contested in public and through various discourses that might arise out of the work itself.

Love is a personal impression, emotions, and experience that exists in a relationship between a living person and another living person. Love is also subjective according to the 2 people who are involved in the relationship. It involves take and give; action and reaction, a constant evolution of emotions and intellect. The truth of this love belongs only to the two people in the relationship, and no one else.

God is a personal impression, emotions, and experience that exists in a relationship between a living person and an intangible being. Its presence is ethereal, and can not be defined through logic and scientifical matters. God, is something that can only be felt through faith; in believing and surrendering life to a higher power. The truth of God belongs to the one person. It can be shared, but can not be taught like an academic lesson for it is a personal experience for every individual.

These are just the beginnings. I'm far away from the essence but I want to share this and try to develop the thought. Thanks BG for the great many nights of not-so-meaningless espressos. =)!

Everlasting Love

There is this thing called Valentine's Day. A commodification of love where material goods often reduce the true meaning of love. Today love can be tasted from a bite of heart shapes chocolate heart, be listened from the sappy love songs playing on the radio, be smelt through the dozen roses sitting on one's desk.

It was one night before my cousin's wedding that my family got together to wish her well on her next journey, and shortly after dinner I saw that image above. A sight of my two grandmas chatting and laughing together. That doesn't happen very often. Both have hearing problems. It makes you wonder how they communicate.

The connection is not obvious, but my heart grows warm when I see this picture; especially on today's Valentine's Day. A life lived with full of love. Everlasting.

Wanting to Go Away

the heart longs to go to far away places
where dreams are written on the vast sky
and beauty whispers seduction
two taps of the feet
and i wish i am there

Poverty and Injustice

Living in a country that knows nothing better than surviving poverty, I am still in awe of the daily struggle the people in my city has to face. In today's paper I read about a family who can only eat rice once every two or three days. The recent increase of fuel price affected the price of rice and therefore reduced their economic ability. Every day you read about their stories; how these people stand strong against adversity. When you look at them, you wonder about breaking this chain of poverty. You would not know how or where to start.

A friend of mine brought to my attention Bono's plight in the eradication of third world countries' debt; his efforts in helping Africa, his fight against AIDS. Nobody speaks for the poverty in this country, because it has become accepted as part of 'developing'.

But poverty is not just lacking things; in need of things. As Bono puts it in his address to the National Prayer Breakfast Meeting in Washington DC, "This is not about charity, this is about Justice and Equality." As we try to help out the poor, we are working towards equality; to make their life more equal to us. As we raise the awareness of fighting poverty, we are also working on getting rid of Injustice. We try to create a world that is just; "that whether you live or die doesn't determined by where you live."

That was what Bono said about Africa. How about this country?

In the last 10 years, Indonesia has gone through a roller coaster of economic downturns, social unrest and still struggling to find its feet within the so called democracy. The people it is fighting for, is still fighting to get their stomach filled day to day. How ironic is that when the country is richly blessed by oil, minerals and other natural resources the people go hungry? Or is it Justice? the simple fact that we can't have it all??
